John P. Craine House Fundraising Breakfast Honorary Chairs Marlin Jackson and Melvin Bullitt hosted nearly 500 guests during the first annual Fundraising Breakfast for the John P. Craine House at the Indianapolis Colts Complex in February. The early-morning event began with a brief video that allowed the organization to plead their case for both sustainability [and growth] of this unique program which offers alternative sentencing for non-violent female offenders with pre-school age children. Organization and community leaders, as well as "residents" of the Craine House, offered their own perspective on how the program is reforming lives in Central Indiana, inspiring attendees to financially support their effort to expand beyond the six beds that have served more than 500 women [and their families] since 1981. Enthusiasts also were given complimentary souvenir photos, staged in the Presidential Box at Ford's Theater and had an opportunity to rub elbows with the man himself...okay, honestly not Abe himself, but a great character interpreter. The event was sponsored in part by Barnes and Thornburg LLP, Monarch Beverage, Duke Energy, Ice Miller, Old National Bank, and Johnson Grossnickle & Associates.

Christmas in the Kitchen Every year, the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis decks the walls and spreads plenty of holiday cheer at their popular Christmas in the Kitchen event, a popular open house-style kitchen experience that is used both as a [Hyatt] client party and a fundraiser for the Indiana Children's Wish Fund. While patrons were able to bid on more than 40 silent auction items--including a 2008 Chuani scooter-motorcycle or Schwinn Jaguar bikes--and enjoy live holiday music by Blair and Company in the festive ballroom, the main event never left the boundaries of the best room in the house--the kitchen! Hyatt's general manager, Brian Comes, along with Chef Byron Gabel and his incredible culinary team, pulled out all the stops. And there were a lot of stops to make! Starting with Beef Wellington, the many stops included the grill where they served some of the tastiest lamb chops this side of the North Pole. Before hitting the ice-embedded [giant] shrimp cocktail station and the 16 other stops, we chilled out at the Polar Bear beverage station for some delightful holiday cheer. The event was presented by Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and Wheaton World Wide Moving with additional support from Baldwin & Lyons Inc., Colliers Turley Martin Tucker, Bodner Company Inc., Clarian Health Partners, Ross Gage Inc. and Cumulus Radio. Special thanks to Brian Comes, Byron Gabel, Majad Farah, Nicole Schmidt, Erin Sloan, Lee Fulgoni-Britton, Hyatt Sales, Catering and Banquet staff.
